The Upper East Side’s once-humble main drag gets upscale
Once largely a commercial thoroughfare, 86th Street has been reinvented as a locus for luxury real estate. Spearheading this sea-change are the Upper East Side condos at The Hayworth, a 21-story tower from Ceruzzi Properties at the corner of 86th and Lexington. Designed by HOK architects, with interior design from AD100 designer Lee Mindel of SheltonMindel, the building is home to 61 luxury residences ranging from two to five bedrooms, as well as a long list of amenities, including a movement and music studio and a rooftop terrace. As the block embraces its new residences, New Yorkers are eager to call the reinvented neighborhood home. “There’s now an appetite, and an excitement, for being in a prime and proper part of the Upper East Side that’s also proximate to a lot of conveniences,” says Anna Zarro, head of sales, marketing, and communications for Ceruzzi Properties.
